Aamir talk on Rang De Basanti going to Oscars
Ronnie Scewvala: Firstly this has been an outstanding year for the Indian film fraternity. Loads of movies with diverse topics have been made and graciously accepted by the audiences. The box office has also embraced these versatile movies. Being selected for the Oscars is only like climbing the 1st ladder of success. Rang De Basanti is a movie that has touched upon people’s life. Its success with the audiences itself is a big achievement for us; If it wins the award it would be like an icing on the cake.
In India when Rang De Basanti was released it was shown in lots of universities and colleges. Would the same step be taken abroad?
Ronnie Scewvala: We have already held numerous shows abroad in various universities with about 7000 students and more. Students there have instantly bonded with the movie theme because in many ways the issue is universal and they feel the same disillusions. A.R Rehman has performed number of concerts across the east coast of US promoting Rang De Basanti. Not only has this but A.R. Rehman had also co-played the tracks of RDB with western musicians and created fabulous remixes.
This will be your 2nd time at the Oscars. Do you think this is an added advantage for Rang De Basanti. You are now a known figure in the foreign film category so people will be eager to know more about this movie.
Aamir: Our main aim would be promoting this movie as effectively as possible. If it being my second visit to the Oscars generates curiosity in people its ultimately good and beneficial for the movie. I would definitely use all contacts I have and advise the director and producer at all times.
What does your gut instinct tell you, will Rang De Basanti make it?
Aamir: my gut instinct tells me Rang De Basanti will make India's dream come true.

Lagaan chinkara shots trouble Aamir
Aamir allegedly used a chinkara for shooting the movie in 2000 in Jam Kunaria village in Kutch, 375 km from here.
According to a forest department official, Khan and Reena, the executive producer of 'Lagaan' and the actor's former wife replied to the notice issued last month and in return posed questions on issuance of the same.
'In their reply they inquired on what basis the notice had been issued to them. The film star is communicating through his advocate, but he will have to come here personally to get his statement recorded,' the Conservator of Forest of Kutch Circle, R.L. Meena, told IANS.
'After getting reply of our earlier notice, we have issued another notice to the executive producer to make clarification on specific issues,' he added.
In the second notice issued to the film producer this week, the forest department posed queries regarding the shooting of chinkara, a protected species, without permission, the place where it was shot and how come the animal was shown unconscious.
'If the animal was actually unconscious, they will have to explain how it became so. This is very serious,' said Meena.
Since the case is grave, the department 'won't act in a hurry and is careful before going further', he added.
The forest officials are planning to file a case against the filmstar along with Reena and his present wife Kiran Rao for violating the law by capturing footage of the animal without permission. Reena was the executive producer and Kiran Rao was the assistant director of the film.
According to a forest official, Aamir had asked for permission to shoot the animal, but the request was turned down. Still, when the film was exhibited, there was a shot of a chinkara.
The forest department had earlier reportedly carried some preliminary investigation and the matter was closed.
But the case reopened when an environment group, Gir Youth Nature Club, registered a complained in July this year, just after the state criminal investigation department was asked to re-investigate poaching charges levelled against another Bollywood star Salman Khan, eight years ago during the shooting of the film 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'.

“I wouldn’t deny that we’ve met a couple of times in the recent past,” Vikram confirms the development, “But there’s nothing in the offing yet. We keep discussing movies and scripts, but haven’t zeroed on anything so far. I would love to work with Aamir again. Who wouldn’t?”
Meanwhile, Vikram is almost through with the principal shooting of RED – THE DARK SIDE, starring Aftab Shivdasani, Celina Jaitley and Amrita Arora [playing gray for the first time]. Himesh Reshammiya scores the music of this film.

Aamir Served a Legal Notice
Faridoon Shahryar, IndiaGlitzSuperstar Aamir Khan seems to be heading for Press-Conference-Galore days. Why? Well, the Gujarat Forest Department has sent a notice to actor for allegedly violating the Wildlife Act during the making of his film ‘Lagaan’ seven years ago when he had filmed a Chinkara without necessary permission in the Kutch district.
The department sent a notice on Monday to his whole production team for filming the Chinkara without permission. The department has given him a week’s notice to reply to the notice. It defies reason as to why should the forest department had to wake up from wilderness after so many years of the actual incident. ‘Lagaan’ was released five years ago and won laurels for the country internationally. It is very clear that Aamir Khan’s views over Narmada Dam and the subsequent propaganda started by political groups is the basic reason behind this belated action in a non-existent case.
It seems Aamir Khan will have to break his silence sooner or later and come out in open about the fresh set of pressure tactics employed by a few desperate people.

Coke brings trouble to Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan may just be regretting his decision to voice his views on the Narmada valley dam project. It is common knowledge that he did not make any friends by doing this. In fact he lost quite a few friends and maybe a lots of fans too. Most of these people belonged to the state of Gujarat, the state to which his statements pertained directly too. The people antagonized most were the B.J.P. workers of the state whose government was barring no efforts to get the project underway. All this culminated in Aamir’s film Fanaa not getting released in Gujarat. A loss of many crores for the producer.Just when one thought that all the fuss concerning the issue had died down; it all has come roaring back to haunt Aamir. The recent reports of coke and pepsi still containing pesticides above permissible limits have sent the B.J.P. into overdrive trying to settle scores with Aamir.
As one knows Aamir is the premier brand ambassador of coke in the country. So, the B.J.P has taken the opportunity and started making Aamir its main reference point in all its criticisms of the soft drinks. They have also not refrained from making a few personal remarks about the actor’s moral rights to speak about the Narmada project. According to them, one who endorses such multinationals is not fit to be the voice of the farmers of the country. Though many other leading Bollywood stars are associated with such brands, the B.J.P has chosen to take only Aamir’s name. Going by the viciousness of the comments, they are not likely to end any time soon.
Whether Aamir is regretting his decision to speak out about Narmada or his decision to endorse coke is anybody’s guess.
Aamir shifts in Being Cyrus director’s bungalow
By IndiaFMAamir Khan will be having a housewarming party for his new house in Panchgani on Friday. This house is very special to Aamir for reasons more than one. Firstly because he got married to his love lady, Kiron Rao there, last year in December. Secondly his kids, Junaid and Ira are fond of the place.
It is believed that this two-acre property originally belonged to director Homi Adjania’s parents and Aamir bought it last month for Rs 7 crore. Homi Adajania is the same guy who directed the Saif Ali Khan starrer Being Cyrus and incidentally that movie was entirely shot in Panchgani itself in the same house.
Aamir’s close friends, parents and children are expected to be present for the bash that will start on Saturday and go on till Sunday.

Aamir wanted to play Saif's 'Langda Tyagi'!
IndiaFMThough Aamir Khan and director Vishal Bhardwaj could not work together in 'Mr. & Mrs Singh' due to "creative differences" (as per Vishal) , the choosy actor was very much interested in 'Omkara' .
According to the 'Omkara' director, "Aamir wanted to play the role of 'Langda Tyagi', which Saif Ali Khan has played. But you know how it is – there's a lot between wanting to play a role and actually playing it. Aamir was busy with his other projects."
However there is no animosity between Vishal and Aamir as is being speculated. Aamir recently attended the special screening of Omkara where he was seen chatting up with Bharadwaj.

Aamir Khan Biography
Aamir Khan had the privilege of being born in a noted film family. But we have seen that being born with a silver spoon in mouth isn't enough to guarantee success in life. There are many actors who had silver spoons at their disposal all through their lives. Bobby Deol, Kumar Gaurav, Mohnish Bahl, and Abhishekh Bachchan in recent times, had opportunities laid out in platters for them, yet the going never really was strong for these starsons..
Aamir too did not have to strive for an opportunity to be a hero in films, at the same time he was humble enough to boost his prospects with talent and a lot of hard work. He started his career in films with a runaway success called Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, a film directed by his cousin, Mansoor Khan.
Aamir has come a long way since QSQT. Even after spending nearly 15 years in the film industry the desi version of Tom Hanks manages to retain freshness in his performances.
There were hits like Dil, Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Rangeela, Raja Hindustaani, Ghulam, Sarfarosh and there were the offbeat, critically acclaimed ones like Raakh, Earth-1947.
A seasoned artiste now, Aamir is slowly turning to production. His first film as a producer is a period film titled Lagaan. The film was done at a huge level and Aamir have spent quite a handful in making the film.
And now, Aamir Khan's Lagaan has been nominated in the Oscar Awards 2002 in the Best Foreign Film Category. Lagaan is only the third Indian film to be selected in Oscar Nominations.
